TV Real Launches In-Demand Genre Reports

***Image***As part of our efforts to help buyers find the best content to fill their slates, TV Real is launching a series of weekly genre reports this summer, spotlighting new shows in a variety of areas.

This August, we’ll be highlighting five key genres in the doc and factual business: true crime, lifestyle (food/travel/home reno), history, wildlife and science and technology. In the absence of conventions this summer, this is the perfect opportunity to virtually pitch your shows directly to the factual buying community.

Bob Ross’s The Joy of Painting Heads to Tubi

***Image***Tubi will bring 30 seasons of the cult phenomenon The Joy of Painting, featuring Bob Ross, to its library on the Docurama Channel from Cinedigm.

Ross launched The Joy of Painting on U.S. public television in 1983 along with his partners Annette and Walt Kowalski. Nearly 400 episodes will stream on Tubi by the end of July, to watch for free.

New Jeff Foxworthy Series Set for A&E Network

***Image***A&E Network is set to launch What’s It Worth?, a new series hosted by comedy legend and personal collector Jeff Foxworthy.

In the new 30-minute series, Foxworthy scours the U.S. in search of unique possessions and collectibles with shocking values—without ever leaving his Georgia man cave. What’s It Worth? is produced by ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media for A&E Network, with A+E Networks holding worldwide distribution rights. The series is slated to premiere on A&E on Tuesday, August 4 at 9 p.m.

MIPCOM & MIPJunior Confirm Live Events

Reed MIDEM has confirmed that the 2020 editions of MIPCOM and MIPJunior will take place as both physical gatherings in Cannes and as hybrid digital events.

The French government announced revised directives in June authorizing trade shows and exhibitions over 5,000 attendees to reopen as of September 1, subject to a new assessment of conditions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reed MIDEM plans to regulate traffic flow and capacity across the exhibition hall. Floor markings, in order to respect physical distancing, will be implemented. Onsite registrations will be reduced, with the majority of badges being sent to clients before the event.

Sarah Jessica Parker Teams with ITV America for Dating Show

Lifetime and ITV America are joining forces with executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker for a new social-experiment dating show, Swipe Swap (working title).

The show is a social experiment in love and location, following two hopeful singles who trade places and adopt each other’s lifestyles—from living in one another’s homes and visiting each other’s favorite local haunts to connecting with one another’s closest friends and family—all in the pursuit of romance in their new cities.

Say Yes to the Dress Returning to TLC

TLC is set to debut a new season of Say Yes to the Dress, starting with a quarantine special.

The special quarantine episode of Say Yes to the Dress will bow on Saturday, July 11 at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m., viewers will be welcomed back inside Kleinfeld Bridal for all of the wedding drama—both within bridal parties and among Kleinfeld’s staff. Subsequent new episodes will premiere on Saturdays at 8 p.m.
